Robert C. Thompson, 83, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at his home in Fort Wayne. Born in Piper City, IL, he was a District Manager with IBM Corp. for 35 years, retiring in 1983. He was an avid golfer, playing often at Riverbend and Cedar Creek Golf Courses. He enjoyed being on the water and fishing on Lake Erie. He is survived by his daughters, Sue (Tom) Smith of Jimmerson LK, Angola, and Marcy Wastl of West Lafayette; brothers, Jerry E. (Winnie) Thompson of Malta, IL, and Boake C. (Betty) Thompson of Winter Haven, FL; granddaughters, Brooke Boissenet of Kyle, TX, and Courtney Boissenet of Kalamazoo, MI :grandson, Kurt Wastl of Bloomington; and her friend Jane Hendry of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leigh Thompson; parents, Inza and Benjamin Thompson; granddaughter, Lauren Wastl. Service is 2 p.m. Saturday at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road with calling one hour prior, Rev. John Green officiating. Calling also from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or Lauren M. Wastl Memorial Scholarship c/o West Lafayette, Jr.-Sr. High School.
