Ray M. Gilbert, 69, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Woodview Health Care Center in Fort Wayne.

Born in Chicago, IL, he was the owner of Gilbert Macro and Merges and Gilbert Energy Corp. He was a member of Business Forum, Fort Wayne Duplicate Bridge, Blue Jacket Inc., Literacy Alliance (taught Burmese math), Fort Wayne Power & Sail, member of National Association of Power Engineers (taught boiler certification). Ray also donated services to Matthew 25.

Survivors include wife, Leta "Lee" M. Gilbert of Fort Wayne; step-sons, Gary (Jill) Brigman, and Craig A. Brigman both of Fort Wayne; daughters, Kimberly (Eric) Lund of Dexter, MI, and Kelly (Jim) Mize of S. Whitley; mother, Marsha Gilbert of Bradenton, FL; mother-in-law, Ada Goodson of Fort Wayne; sisters, Rev. Dr. Gaye Benson of Richmond, CA, and Julia A. Gilbert of Centreville, VA; brothers, Dr. D. Grant Gilbert of Loveland, OH, Boyd H. Gilbert of Valparaiso, IN; 9 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Ray Gilbert II, and Steve Gilbert; and granddaughter, Jennifer Gilbert.

Service is 11 a.m. Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue. Rev. Dr. Gaye G. Benson officiating. Calling from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery.
