Ralph T. Garey, Sr., 91, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Boise, ID. Born in Ft. Wayne, Ralph was an Army WWII Veteran and worked at Fruehauf Trailer for 33 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree and the American Legion Post #178 in Garrett. He loved seeing his grandchildren and was an avid bowler. Surviving are his sons, Tom (Fely) Garey of Ft. Wayne and Alex Garey of Chicago, IL; daughters, Ilene (Bill) Allmond of Meridian, ID, Midge (Charlie) Joseph of Auburn, IN, Cindy (Dan) Zimmerman of Huntington, IN, Marsha (Alan) Mertz of Noblesville, IN and Krista (Jacob) Kelly of Ft. Wayne; sister, Loretta Longsworth of Kendallville, IN; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Martha Garey; first wife, Mary Garey; and sister, Rosella Johnson. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 am, August 8, 2012 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 8 pm Tuesday at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Rd with a Rosary at 4 pm. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Memorials to Catholic Charities or Masses.
