Marlowe Emma Marie Funk Obituary

Marlowe Emma Marie Funk of Fort Wayne, born July 18, 1923, joined our Heavenly Father, her loving husband (Leslie Funk Sr.), beloved mother (Frieda Bruot), sister (Eileen Mitchell), grandson (Scott Turner) and other loved ones on June 24, 2006. She is survived by her daughters, Freya (Harry Sneed) Funk, Renee (Michael) Weber and son, Leslie (Sandy) Funk Jr.; granddaughters, Freya Sneed, Leslie Peters, Kathleen Sneed, Stephanie Sneed, Jaclyn Weber, Sandra Moyer and Christina Funk; grandsons, Harry Sneed II, John Sneed, Tobias Sneed, Aaron Weber, Sean Weber, Zachary Weber, Richard Turner and Leslie Funk III; great granddaughter, Alexes Leeper and great grandson, Gregory Moyer; sister, Joan Detter and Trude Gallmeier; brother, Roy Bruot and nieces and nephews. She graduated form Central High School in 1941. For over thirty years she was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church and later was a member (for over twenty years) of Messiah Lutheran Church in Wolcottville, IN. She devoted her life to her husband and children, while still performing dedicated service as an administrative assistant to several employers/companies, finally retiring from North American Van Lines in 1982, after approximately twenty-three years of exceptional service. She was the most affectionate, magnanimous, gracious, wonderful woman (wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother) anyone would/could ever desire. She enjoyed cooking/baking, fishing, gardening and golfing; but, of all her many talents, she delighted in creating wonderful hand and machine sewn clothing and knitted/crocheted items/keepsakes for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom, we loved you, we love you now, and we will love you forever; thank you for everything Mother (from your grateful children, Freya, Renee and Les). Service is 1pm, Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Sons, Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Rev. Roberta Ring officiating. Calling, 2 to 5 & 7 to 9pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorials to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.
