Dyne Pfeffenberger , 71, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN after an accident. Born in Celina, OH. Mr. Pfeffenberger grew up in Celina, Ohio where he graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1955. He attended International Business College, University of Dayton and Ball State University where he earned his BA, MA and CPA. He taught at International Business College and Ball State prior to coming to IPFW in 1972. Before retiring in 2001, Mr. Pfeffenberger won the Friends of the University Outstanding Teaching Award in 1991 and the Indiana 1999 Outstanding Accounting Educator Award presented by the Indiana CPA Society of Professional Accountants. He served as Chair of the Accounting Department for many years.Mr. Pfeffenberger was one of the founders of the Embassy Theatre Foundation where he served as Treasurer and Historian for many years. He has also been Treasurer of ARCH, the Fort Wayne Historical Preservation Society. He served as both President and Vice President for the Citizens Advisory Board for public radio WBNI. Dyne was probably best known for his extraordinary talent for playing the piano. He was the piano accompanist for the late Buddy Nolan and one of the premier organist on the Embassy's Page. He also played piano for programs at the Cathedral as well as many appearances at the Embassy. His most recent accomplishment was his authoring of the book, The Historic Fort Wayne Embassy Theatre, which was published this year. Surviving are sister Debra (Pfeffenberger) Denney of Celina, OH; nephews Todd (Tonja) Braun of Bellefontaine, Trent Braun of Celina, OH, Trace (Kelly) Braun of Celina, OH; niece, Vanessa Denney of Celina, OH; 4 Great Nephews and 3 Great Nieces; brother-in-law, Ronald (Carolyn) Braun of Coldwater, OH; friends Joe (Becky) Sumpter of Fort Wayne, IN and Jan Geib of Fort Wayne, IN. Dyne was preceded in death by parents Linus and Hazel (Chaney) Pfeffenberger. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am, Monday at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1122 South Calhoun Street with Fr. Robert Schulte officiating, calling one hour prior. Calling also 2 to 5 & 7 to 9 pm Sunday at D. O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. Graveside services 3:30 pm Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Celina, Ohio. Memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, Celina, Ohio, Cathedral of Immaculate Conception , Fort Wayne, Embassy Theatre Foundation Endowment Fund or Northeast Public Radio, Inc.
