Rev. Dr. Donald LaSuer, 89, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Heritage Pointe in Warren. Born in Sioux City, IA, Donald pastored several churches, including Claypool Circuit Methodist, Willowcreek Methodist in Mishawaka, Christ Methodist in Fort Wayne, Warsaw First United Methodist, Wayne Street United Methodist in Fort Wayne, First Wayne St. United Methodist, and Anderson First United Methodist. Dr. LaSuer was Superintendent of the Calumet and South Bend Districts. Rev. LaSuer received his Honorary Doctrate from DePauw University and was widely recognized for his wisdom and mentoring of younger pastors. Donald loved his family and wife of more than 60 years,Mary Imogene. Surviving are his son, Steven (Nancy) LaSuer of Nashville, TN, son, Mark (Leslie) LaSuer of Fort Wayne, son, Craig (Joy) LaSuer of Lafayette, IN, sister, Dorothy Jean Pike of Colorado Springs, CO, 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren . Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Ellen LaSuer, wife, Mary Imogene LaSuer, four sisters and one brother. Service is 1:00 pm, August 30, 2012 at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne, with Rev. Dean Stuckey officiating. Calling at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, Thursday, August 30, 2012 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the LaSuer Scholarship at Garrett Evangelical Seminary.
