William "Neal" Sheehan, 81, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Monroeville, Indiana, Neal was the son of the late Irvin and Alberta (Geis) Sheehan. Neal served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. He worked at International Harvester for 13 years prior to becoming an engineer with Norfolk Southern for 23 years before his retirement. Neal lived his dream of living at Lake George, which he and his family enjoyed for 22 years. He enjoyed being social, inviting family and friends over to play cards. Neal also enjoyed golfing, working on his landscape and traveling. On his travels he was known for just wandering off exploring or "getting lost", but he always enjoyed himself. His unique sense of humor will be missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Susan (Connors) Sheehan of Coldwater, MI; children, Jeffery Sheehan of Angola, Tracey (Doug) Keller of Markle, Kristine (Mark) Welty of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Savannah Clevinger, Vincent and Jack Welty, Sydney Sheehan; brothers, Eugene (Nancy) Sheehan of Fort Wayne, Carl (Kathy) Sheehan of Monroeville, his grand dog Rosie, along with many nieces and nephews. Neal was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Angela Johnson, and Nancy Lothamer. A time of a life remembered will be at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The family asks guests to write down a favorite memory of Neal and bring it in so they can keep those cherished memories forever. Memorials may be made to the Community Humane Shelter of Steuben County, or The Shepherds House. To sign the online guest book, go to www.domccombandsons.com.
