Virginia "Ginny" (Shank) Harrod , 84, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Presence Sacred Heart Assisted Living in Avilla. She was born in Ohio to the late Glenn and Velma (Tooman) Shank. She received both of her Bachelors and Master's degree from St. Francis University Ft Wayne, Indiana. She married Lawrence Harrod on December 27, 1952, he preceded her in death on December 25, 2009. Virginia taught school at Fort Wayne Community Schools and Eel River Perry Township School Corporation, she last taught at Huntertown Elementary School, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Huntertown United Methodist Church, John Purdue Club, former member of Huntertown U.M.C. Women. Surviving are her daughter, Ginger C. (Douglas) McComb of Fort Wayne; son, Michael R. (Kathy) Harrod of Avilla, Indiana; step grandson, Michael (Karen) Hoover; grandsons, Mark (Julie) McComb, Adam (Tiffany) McComb, Jim Harrod; great-grandsons Cole and Cooper McComb. Funeral service is 2:00 pm, Monday, June 25, 2018, with calling one hour prior, at Huntertown United Methodist Church, 16115 Lima Rd with Rev. Seth Lochmueller, officiating. Calling also from 2:00 to 6:00 pm, Sunday June 24, 2018 at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road. Burial in Huntertown Cemetery.
