Vernell"Nell" Williams, 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 13, 2017. She was born in Boaz,Alabama on June 24, 1934, the daughter of the late Homer and Minnie Maroney. She loved to travel abroad to a variety of places including Jamaica, Hawaii, Alaska and Canada. Nell worked as a waitress at Halls Hollywood for 47 years closely with her friends and coworkers. She loved her customers and interacting with them, especially the Hall family. In her spare time she loved gardening, shopping, camping, spending time at the lake, animals, but going out to eat she loved the most. She was very devoted to her family and enjoyed family gatherings. Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Aubrey Williams; children, Terry Hettinger, Karen "Jan" Miller, Lisa (Mark) Hettinger, and Robbie (Jaime) Scribner; siblings, Ivon (Herbert C.) Battles, Lucille Maroney, Glenda (Jerry) Payne; 10 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Lee Spillers. She was preceded in death by daughter; Sheila Spillers; siblings, Gwendolyn Maroney, Thurman Maroney, Maybell Payne, and Turene Maroney; son-in-laws, Lonnie Miller, and Gary Hettinger. Funeral service is 1:30pm, Monday March 20, 2017 at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park 1320 E. Dupont Rd. Ft. Wayne, IN with calling 1 hour prior. Visitation is Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 also at the funeral home. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
