Trifon Joseph "Steve" Bickis, 91, joined his beloved wife Wilma in dance on Saturday, January 23, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born in Fort Wayne, IN, Steve was a World War II veteran serving in the Navy and Merchant Marines. Steve then became a City of Fort Wayne Firefighter where he served his community for 22 years, retiring in 1978. Following retirement he took his love for plants and gardening to Sandpoint Greenhouse where he worked for several years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 296 and Firefighter Union Local 124. Steve enjoyed fishing, yard work and spending time with his family. Surviving are his children, Stephanie (Richard) Bickis-Swiatkowski of Tallahassee, FL, Steven Bickis of Madison, Susan (Gerry) Haft of Fort Wayne, George (Cindy) Bickis of Albion, David Bickis of Fort Wayne, Bret Bickis of Madison;12 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Steve was preceded in death by his father Trifan Bichis, mother Sophia Cernea, step-father George Cernea, wife, M. Wilma Bickis, sister, Victoria Bickis, step-sisters, Jean and Ann Cernea. Service is 11:00 am, Friday, January 29, 2016 at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue with calling one hour prior, Rev. David Mitchell officiating. Calling at the funeral homeThursday, January 28, 2016, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Burial with military and firefighter honors in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
