Thomas V. Koehl , 88, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Bethlehem Woods Nursing and Rehb. Thomas was born in Fort Wayne and worked as a machinist at Harvester and General Electric, and owned his own business at the "Green Barn". Most recently he worked 20 years, as a truck driver for North American Van Lines retiring in 2000. He was a member of St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Thomas will be remembered as never knowing a stranger, a man who loved and cared for his family, and most importantly his faith in God. Surviving are sons, Joseph Koehl, Edward Koehl, Patrick Koehl and Stanley Koehl all of Fort Wayne, John Koehl of Chicago, IL; daughters, Mary Schafer, Janet Nicelley, Joann Ryan, Christine Smith, Beatrice Royal, Pauline Cox, and Theresa Paulison all of Fort Wayne, Diane Rice of Columbia City, Karen Kemph of Corunna, Charlene Gerber of Auburn; 50+ grandchildren & many, many great-grandchildren. Thomas was preceded in death by father, Frank A. Koehl, mother, Loretta A. (Brown) Koehl, first wife, Patricia Ann Koehl, second wife, Joan "Jody" Koehl, brother, Herbert Koehl, sisters, Delores Hope, Noreen Vance, Marceil Koehl. Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 am Tuesday, March 14, 2017, with calling one hour prior at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church 1502 E. Wallen Rd Fort Wayne. Calling also Monday, March 13, 2017 at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Rd, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. with a Rosary service at 8:00 pm.
