Thomas P. "Tom" Carter, 78, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Tom served honorably and retired after 20 years from the U.S. Navy. He was very proud of his military service. He also worked as a maintenance engineer with Essex for 18 years, retiring in 2010. Tom was an avid bowler and enjoyed being outdoors. He loved to camp, fish and be by the fire. In his later years, his passion was watching his stocks. He was a devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed. Surviving are his children, Danny R. (Camilla) Carter of Fort Wayne, Nicholas (Jessica) Carter of Fort Wayne, Bobbette (Robert) Peters of Decatur, TX, Angela L. (Steve) Monnier of Columbia City, IN, Elizabeth Carter of Fort Wayne, and Dedra L. (Jeffrey) Rice of Fort Wayne; 19 Grandchildren & several great-grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra K. Carter; his parents, Bernard D. and Wanda A. Carter; brother, Gerald L. Carter; and 3 grandchildren. Service is 6:00 pm, Friday, August 24, 2018 at - D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road. Calling at D.O.
