Thomas Max Johnson, 71, passed away unexpectedly January 4, 2017 while visiting in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born October 10, 1945 in Evansville, Indiana and attended grade schools in Indianapolis, Indiana and Brigantine, New Jersey. He graduated from Atlantic City High School, New Jersey. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a machinist. After his service he moved to Gratz, Pennsylvania where he worked as a shoemaker and truck driver. His hobby was photography and he took many photos of the area where he lived. He also enjoyed car racing and working on his car. He was a long time supporter of the Gratz Area Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1.
He is survived by a son, Clinton (April) Johnson of Millersburg, PA; grandchildren, Faith and Brenden Johnson; brother, Addison B. "Skip" (Marna "Susie") Johnson of Fort Wayne; sister, Susan Alice Johnson of Florida; aunt, Harriet (Fred)Paulsen of Port Charlotte, Florida; cousins Judy (Richard) Mendenhall of Indianapolis, Bruce (Karen) Paulsen of Venice, Florida; niece, Holly (Andrew) Dailey of Fort Wayne and nephews, Christopher Johnson of Fort Wayne and Patrick Johnson of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents Addison Brady Johnson and Luana Peters Johnson of Indianapolis, and brothers David Teal Johnson and Lawrence William Johnson.
Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home, 1320 E Dupont Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46825 with calling one hour prior. Private burial will be at Washington Park Cemetery, 10612 E Washington St., Indianapolis, Indiana.
