Smaragtha "Mary" Hanewald, 90, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 in Fort Wayne. Born in New York City, NY, Mary worked as a secretary with Jersey City State College for 25 years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Surviving are her son, Thomas (Maria) Hanewald of Fort Wayne; and two grandsons Thomas and Christopher Hanewald. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hanewald; parents, Marcus and Vasiliki Junis; and her brother, Tom Junis. Service is 10:30 am, Monday, August 21, 2017 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 110 E Wallen Rd with calling one hour prior and Entry Prayers at 9:15 am. Calling also at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Rd Sunday, August 20, 2017 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm with Trisagion Prayer service at 4:00 pm. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
