Shirley Ann Goeglein (nee Spasoff,) 81, of Fort Wayne, passed away on October 16, 2018. Her beloved husband of 61 years, Stanley J. Goeglein, was at her side. She was the loving mother of Thomas J. (Nicole) Goeglein, Tamara A. (Daniel Frick) Goeglein, Timothy S. (Jenny) Goeglein and Theodore M. (Laura) Goeglein. Shirley was the proud baba of Eleanor and Evelyn Frick, Tim and Paul Goeglein, and Michael and Theodora Goeglein. She was the cherished daughter of Vasil and Christine Spasoff. Shirley was the beloved sister of Jean (Spasoff) Popoff and Anita (Spasoff) Choka and was preceded in death by her dear brothers-in-law, Carl C. Popoff and Alexander D. Choka. She is survived by many adored nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.

Shirley was raised in Fort Wayne's Weisser Park neighborhood, a Macedonian-American enclave that instilled a pride in her ethnic heritage and an abiding belief in family, community, and tradition. She was a graduate of Zion Lutheran School and Elmhurst High School where she met her future husband, Stanley. They shared his United States Naval assignments at Virginia Beach and Puerto Rico before returning to Fort Wayne, where they operated Goeglein Painting & Decorating, Inc. for more than forty years. Throughout her life Shirley enjoyed literature, film, travel, and the "funny page" of the daily newspaper; as an ardent proponent of higher education and creative expression, she strongly encouraged the passions and professional lives of her children. Visitation will be held at D. O. McComb & Sons (6301 Fairfield Avenue) on Friday, October 19th, 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm.
