Sammie S. Zelt, 75, passed away on November 24, 2017. She was born on November 24, 1942, the daughter of the late DeCarroll and Nada Brown. She was born, raised, and married in Cromwell, IN., and has lived in Fort Wayne for 56 years. She worked for 25 years at Super Market Services in Fort Wayne before her retirement. Sammie enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, watching sports, reading, and doing puzzles. She was a lover of lighthouses, and enjoyed visiting many of them, as well as collecting them. She was an IU fan, and a Packers fan. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Marvin Zelt; children, Doug (Tina) Zelt, Greg (Angie) Zelt, and Laura (Brett) Helmkamp; 8 grandchildren, Jasmine (Jeff) Schible, Zachary Schible, Sarah (Andy) Zoda, Katie (Michael) Brown, Kyle Zelt, Abbey Zelt, Matthew (Hilary) Oswalt, and Kinsey Helmkamp; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and step-father, Robert Gaff. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 6318 W. California Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46818, with calling 1 hour prior, and Pastors Alex Duff and Bill Mueller officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls 8325 Covington Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46804. Burial will take place in Highland Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Building Fund or Cancer Services of North East Indiana.
