Sam Filippou died peacefully July 18, 2017 at Parkview Supportive Care Unit. Born December 14, 1941 in Polipotamos, Florina, Greece, he migrated to America in 1955. He joined the US Army and was a Green Beret, which was one of his proudest accomplishments. He graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor Degree in Microbiology. He went to work with his father Von at The Rib Room and he was known for cooking "the best filet in town." In 1992 he became an owner and that was his passion until he retired in 2015. Sam was a very hardworking man and his first priority was always his family. When he wasn't at The Rib Room his hobby was computers and everything electronic. He was a good and kind man and who will be missed by many. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Ursula Filippou; daughters JoAnn (Larry) Slater, Aliki (Beto) Magana, and Christina Filippou all of Fort Wayne. His 2 grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Sophia and Sebastian Magana both of Fort Wayne; loving sisters, Kullie (Chris) Raptis of Northbrook IL, and Tina (Gregory) Doublas of Fort Wayne; 4 nephews, Niko Raptis of Northbrook IL, Chris Raptis of Fort Wayne, Evangelos Doublas of Fort Wayne, and George Doublas of Fort Wayne; and his very dear friends George and Vicky Nasalaris and Pedro and Sharon Ledo as well as many other close friends.
