Ruth J. York, 77, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, June 2, 2017. Born in Georgetown, Illinois, Ruth was the daughter of the late James and Naomi Bixby. She earned her bachelors degree from Olivet Nazarene University and her masters degree from St. Francis University. Ruth was a teacher with EACS for over 30 years prior to her retirement. She was an active member of Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, being involved in both wedding and funeral dinner events. Ruth founded Grace Point Kiddie Prep. Ruth had unwavering faith and a servants heart for the Lord. She enjoyed camping, baking, traveling, and going to her children and grandchildren events. Ruth and her late husband Jim were maintenance volunteers at the Bradenton, Florida Missionary Village. There are many words that come to mind for Ruth and being the "Hostess" was one of them. Surviving are her children, Kathi (Daniel) Keller of Indianapolis, Keri (Jeff) TenBarge of Fort Wayne, James (Cami) York, III of Huntington; 10 grandchildren; siblings, Roger (Arlene) Bixby of CA, Robert (Joan) Bixby of Paxton, IL, and Rodney (Char) Bixby of Elgin, IL. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Jim York, Jr., daughter, Karissa Leigh York, brothers, Jim and Donald Bixby. Service is 11:00 am, Friday June 9, 2017 at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, 8611 Mayhew Road with calling one hour prior. Calling at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene Thursday, June 8, 2017, 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Grace Point Missionaries. D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
