Ruth Ann (Leffers, Maloney) Stapleton, age 86, of Fort Wayne, passed away on February 27th. Born September 25th, 1931 in Arcola, Indiana, Ruth was the daughter of the late Edward George, and Bertha Alvina (Buettner) Leffers. Ruth graduated from Arcola High School in 1949. Ruth's first marriage was to John William Maloney. He preceded her in death on the 6th of June 1957. Ruth's second marriage was to Donald E. Stapleton in December of 1967. He preceded her in death in March of 2004. While devotedly raising her five young children, she was employed at St. Vincent De Paul School as a cafeteria cook. She later took a position at International Harvester, and then labored as a housewife. Ruth was talented at sewing and she made beautiful quilts. She was a mother with a lot of fortitude. Mrs. Stapleton was an active member of St. Vincent De Paul Church for over 60 years. She supported many causes, and her work as a volunteer member of the National Alliance for the Mentally III (NAMI) was especially important to her. Surviving are four sons, a step son, and a daughter, Michael (Susan) Maloney of Ossian, Donald (Marsha) Maloney Middlebury, Ronald Maloney, Nicholas Maloney, Kenneth Stapleton all of Fort Wayne, and Ann(a) M. Maloney (Steve) Keltsch Lake Orion, MI; one sister, Kathryn (Phillip) Riecke of Avilla, IN and two brothers, Donald (Jean) Leffers and Arthur Leffers both of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Charles Leffers, as well as Francis, an infant brother. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 am, Monday, March 5, 2018 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road with Father Polycarp officiating with an hour of calling prior to the Mass. Calling at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Saturday, March 3, 2018, 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:30pm.
