Rose M. Wallace, 79, went to be with the Lord on October 18, 2017. Rose was born February 10, 1938 in Telluride, Colorado to John Sheldon and Ruth Chitwood Sheldon. Rose grew up in Columbus, KS and Miami, OK. She married James Newton in 1960 who preceded her in death in 2011. During her lifetime Rose was dedicated to the work of her church wherever she lived, recently serving many years as choir director at Arcola United Methodist Church. Rose loved to sing and she and Jim were long time members of the Fort Wayne Associated Churches Festival Choir and other local choirs. She also devoted many years to the Sheldon Family Association, serving as President and Genealogist. Surviving are her husband, Tommy Ray Wallace of Fort Wayne; sons, Mike (Becki Andrews) Newton of Decatur, IN, and Andy (Shawna Silvers) Newton of Fort Wayne; step-daughter, April Wallace; step-sons, Mike Haak and Will Haak; sisters, Jane Neer of Fort Wayne, and Mayleta Duncan of Tulsa, OK grandsons, Zach Newton of Butler, IN, and Ian Newton of Decatur, IN; granddaughter, Danielle Kirakoffe of Butler IN; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends Rose was preceded in death by her first husband, parents, and granddaughter, Anna Marie Newton. Service is 10:30 am, Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd with calling one hour prior. Calling also Monday, October 23, 2017 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Allen County Public Library Genealogy Department.
