Rose M. Ryan, 81, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 at her home. Born in Fort Wayne, Rose retired from St. Joe Hospital and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She loved reading, the arts, and especially her children and grandchildren, who were her greatest treasure. Rose enjoyed Fort Wayne Arts, particularly the Ballet, the Philharmonic and the Art Museum where she was a volunteer docent. She volunteered for NEIRRS, the Cathedral Museum and Study Connection and had a love for education. Surviving are her children, Regina (Kerry) Blanchette, Timothy (Kathy) Ryan, Rebecca (Phil) Laughlin, Kara (Rob) Slocum, Molly (Tom) Smethers all of Fort Wayne, and Sean (Juli) Ryan of Cincinnati, OH; sisters, Mary Ellen (Tom) Schon of Fort Wayne; brother, Martin Hart of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Jason and Travis Blanchette, Chelsea (Ryan) Ross, Kalissa (Tylor) Herron, Megan and Michael Ryan, Brady, Ryan, Patrick and Logan Laughlin, Molly, Lauren, Bobby and James Slocum, Haley, Luke, Anna and Joseph Smethers, and Ashley, Keegan and Lucas Ryan; great-grandson, Jackson Ross, and one great-grandchild on the way. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, James Ryan; and sisters, Agnes Hart and Jane Hart. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 am Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 2120 S. Harrison St., with calling 1 hour prior at the church. Calling also 7 to 9 pm Monday at Mungovan and Sons Memorial Chapel, 2114 South Calhoun St. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
