Ronald "Ron" Bernard Walden, 73, passed away Friday, October 13, 2017. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he was a graduate of Elmhurst High School class of 1962. Ron was a retiree from the Fort Wayne Fire Department having held many ranks throughout his career. He was a District Chief and Chief of the Fire Prevention Bureau. Ron also served as President of the Firefighters Union IAFF Local 124 from 1975-1978. Ron remained extremely proud his entire life, to have served with the many fine members of the FWFD. Ron was also the co-founder (with his wife of 53 years, Sharon) and owner of Kleenit, Inc. until 2005. Ron was an avid golfer, and enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his sons, grandsons, and the many good friends he made while being a member at Pine Valley CC and later at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, FL., where he and Sharon lived for the past 25 years. Since becoming a grandfather in 1987, he has been known as Pa (paw), to his children and grandchildren. We will miss his daily involvement in our lives, the ball games, golf matches, cheer competitions, hockey games, dance recitals, school functions. Above all else, he always made his family his priority. We will all miss your smile, your laughter, your guidance, but most of all your unconditional love. Ron was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church. Surviving are his mother, Helen Walden of Fort Wayne; children, Shelly (Anthony) David of Fishers, Scott (Shelly) Walden of Fort Wayne, Gregory Walden of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Ashley, Zachary, Alexa, and Xavier Walden, Joel, Anthony, Nathaniel, and Rylan David; siblings, Rebecca Bunn of Fort Wayne, and Daniel (Marty) Walden of Winston Salem, NC. Ron was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kennedy Aerin Walden, his father, Bernard Walden, and his beautiful wife Sharon Rose Walden. The service is at 11:30 am on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Trinity English Lutheran Church, 450 West Washington Street with calling 2 hours prior, Rev. Dr. Kathleen Haller officiating. Entombment in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
