Ronald L. Barnhart, age 90, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017 surrounded by his loving family in his home. Born and raised in Churubusco, IN, he went to Huntertown H.S. and later served with the Merchant Marines in WW II and the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. After returning from war he began work at Home Telephone (GTE) where he remained for 36 years and met the love of his life, whom he married. When not being a mechanic and handyman for family, friends, and neighbors, he enjoyed gardening, ham radio, reading military history, volunteering at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Irmgard (Seele); four children, Ronda (Don) Kissling, Lori (Kirk) Grable of Carmel, IN; Lisa (Tom) Patten; Fred (Andrew Wanek) of Chicago, IL; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Mary (Parish); his Aunt Cora who raised him; and five siblings, Harold, Louise, Lavon, Burlyn, and twin brother Don. Funeral Service is 10:00 am Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with calling one hour prior to the service. Visitation will also be held Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
