Roma June "RJ" (Meyer) Minton 93, died Friday, April 27 in Fort Thomas, KY after a brave and defiant battle against cancer. A lifelong resident of Fort Wayne and New Haven, she recently relocated to Kentucky. RJ graduated in 1942 from Central High School, retired in 1979 from VA Hospital, and then worked at several Fort Wayne businesses until 2008. She was a long-time member of Emanuel Lutheran Church of New Haven, Eagles post #248 and Beta Sigma Phi sorority Life Member, and was also a life member of Indiana Dancers Association Inc-Tri River Squares . RJ enjoyed playing Euchre and Tripoly, and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Estella Meyer, husband Richard F. Minton (K.I.A. WWll), sisters Dorathea Fraser and Eilean Allen-Johnson, brothers Dale Meyer, LeRoy Meyer and Don Meyer. She is survived by her son Brad (Becky) Loar of Lawrenceville, GA, daughter Deatra Loar (Joe) Neary of Dayton, KY, grandson Chris (Ari) Loar of St Petersburg, FL , great-grandson Tyler and great -granddaughter Logan. Three siblings Arden Meyer, Nila Goshert, Karen Moltzen, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation at D. O. McComb Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 3pm - 7pm. Funeral service will take place on May 4, 2018, at 10:30am, at Emanuel Lutheran Church New Haven with visitation 1 hour prior. Committal service at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN. Followed by Luncheon at Emanuel Lutheran Church. Suggested Memorials to Northeast Indiana Radio Reading Service Inc., or Emanuel Lutheran for Hearing Impaired.
