Robert E. Gorman, 94, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at St. Anne Home and Retirement Community. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Robert was the son of the late William and Julia Gorman. Robert graduated from Central Catholic High School and earned his bachelors degree from Xavier University. He was a WWII Army veteran serving under General Patten. Robert worked for General Electric for 36 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus; Elks Lodge #155; V.F.W. Post #82; D.A.V. Robert was an active volunteer with St. Mary's Soup Kitchen for 28 years. He enjoyed golfing, watching sports and spending time with his family. Surviving are his children; Robert E. (Meg) Gorman, Jr. of Carmel, Timothy W. (Kathy) Gorman of Barrington, IL, Ellen C. Farmer of Fort Wayne; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren with two on the way; and daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Goman of Defiance, OH. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Clare M. Gorman; son, Dennis J. Gorman; daughter, Molly P. Schnelker; son-in-laws, Hugh Farmer, and Matt Schnelker. Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 am, Saturday, December 17, 2016 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with calling one hour prior, Fr. Daniel Scheidt officiating. Calling at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd, Friday, December 16, 2016, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Entombment in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
