Robert E. Hatfield, 89, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Robert worked as a dental technician with the Allen Dental Laboratory for over 40 years. He was a lifelong member of Harvester Avenue Missionary Church. Robert proudly served his country as a member of the US Army during the Korean War where he earned the Purple Heart medal. Surviving are his step-children, Susan Kay (Thomas) Hicks of Rockwall, TX; Barbara Jo (Gordon) Barnes of Fort Wayne; Thomas (Lisa) Patten of Fort Wayne; and Mary Ellen (Ronald) Dixon of New Haven, IN; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack (Mary) Hatfield of Baton Rouge, LA, and Jerry Hatfield of New Haven, IN; and sister, Sharon Perry of New Haven, IN. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Joanna Hatfield; parents, Floyd and Chloe Hatfield; 3 sisters, and 1 brother. Service is 10:30 am, Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd with calling one hour prior. Calling also Monday, April 17, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
