Roanne R. Drerup, 68, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 at her home in Roanoke, IN. She was born in Fort Wayne, IN, to the late Clell G. and Margaret I. Boerger. Roanne graduated from New Haven High School in 1968 and earned her LPN and worked at Parkview Hospital for six years. She later became a teacher's aide at Croninger Elementary School for 19 years, retiring in 2004. She was a member of First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member for 52 years and belonged to the United Methodist Women, serving as their president for two years. Roanne enjoyed shopping and decorating her New England farmhouse-style home, from which she took great delight in observing the birds and the deer as they played in the yard and the woods. Her passion was being a mom and a grandma and spending time with her family, often at a card table filled with lots of love and laughter. Surviving are her loving husband of 42 years, Stephen B. Drerup of Roanoke, IN; daughter, Stephenie R. Drerup of Raleigh, NC; son, Kevin P. (Julianna) Drerup of Columbus, IN; sister Cheryl L. (Robert) Dexter of Fort Lupton, CO; grandchildren, Hannah R. and Abigail G. Drerup of Columbus, IN. Service is 11:00 am Friday, July 27 at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 E. Wayne Street with visitation one hour prior. Calling is also from 5-8 pm Thursday, July 26 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to either the United Methodist Women (UMW) or music programs at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church.
