Rita C. Childers, 96, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Woodview Assisted Living in Fort Wayne. She was a native and liftetime resident of Fort Wayne, IN and born to the late Maurice and Eleanor Murchland. She graduated from South Side HS in 1939. She enjoyed music, playing the organ, tending to her flowers and house plants and caring for her pets. Rita was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. Surviving are her son, Steven L. (Belinda K "Sissy") Childers of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter, Linda S. (Roger Hill) Childers of Columbus, OH; daughter-in-law, Kathy M. Childers of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter-in-law, Linda Childers of Angola, IN; sisters, Mary Shepherd of Dallas, TX; Arlouine Jahns of Des Moines, IA; 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, Rita was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Harold R. Childers. Michael L. Childers, David R. Childers, sister, Lois Murchland, brothers, Robert P. and Hugh Edward Murchland, Service is 10:30 am, Wednesday November 22, 2017 at- D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road with calling one hour prior. Private Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the Hope for Animals.
