Phyllis V. Lucas, 87, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Ashton Creek Health and Rehab in Ft. Wayne. Born in Saint Clairsville, Ohio, Phyllis was the daughter of the late John and Hanna Jessee. Phyllis was raised on a farm and developed a strong work ethic that carried on throughout her life. She earned her Associates Degree in Nursing from Parkland College in Champaign, IL, her Bachelors Degree from Purdue University in Nursing, and her Masters Degree from California State College in Health Care Management. While at California State earning her degree she also taught students. Phyllis was a critical care nurse during her working career at several major hospitals including Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, and Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, along with having had her own consulting firm, "Health Care Executives Inc." She was a "doer." Phyllis was caring, tough, and loved her family. She was a great mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mentor to her family, friends, and co-workers. Surviving are her children; Lisa (Todd) Bush of Huntertown, Bob (Sue) Lucas of Champaign, IL, Gene (Joann) Lucas of Larkspur, CO, Rhonda (Ed) Chiang of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Justin, Erin, Jake, Melissa, Chris, Nick, Don, Jessee, Cooper, Kyle; great-grandchildren, Austin, Jordan, Dylan, Nick Jr, Raven, and Schylar. Phyllis was preceded in death by her sister Beatrice Mead. Calling at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road Sunday, April 9, 2017, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
