Phillip R. Herrick, 91, passed away April 23, 2018 in Fort Wayne. Born in Cleveland, OH he served in the Army during WWII and in the Army Medical Corps in the occupation of Korea following the war. Phillip received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Case Institute of Technology where he earned his letter in wrestling. He was employed as an electrical engineer at General Electric Lamp Division in New York City, Cleveland, and Fort Wayne. Philip was the author of a number of papers in the Illuminating Engineering and Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineer journals. He served as president of the GE club. Phillip served as a trail guide at Fox Island and Metea Parks. He served as Scoutmaster for the Thunderbird District and Anthony Wayne Council. Phillip also worked with Epiphany Lutheran Church operating the children's rides at the Johnny Appleseed Festival. He participated in the senior games for many years and won the overall trophy in 1991. He is survived by daughter, Marjorie (Bob) Johns of St. Johns, MI; sons, David (Kelly) Herrick of Fort Wayne and Tim (Linda) Herrick of Plainfield, IL; and 4 grandsons. Phillip was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Herrick. Calling at D. O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 12:00 noon - 2pm. Private family graveside services will be held. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Methodist Church, Epiphany Lutheran Church, or Anthony Wayne Council of Boy Scouts.
