Patricia Ann (Shea) Elward 78, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 9th after a hard fought battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was born on August 6th, 1938 to the late Mary Jane and Robert Shea. Pat "Patty" was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Richard K. Elward and her twin brother Michael Shea.
Survivors include her 7 children: John (Sherry) Elward, Deborah (Chuck) Cottrell, Mary Kay (Brian) Ferrell, Cristine (Jim) Lenz, Matthew (Laura) Elward, Michelle (Luke) Dietrick, and Jeanine (Hank) Yorke, 18 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, brother Robert (Pat) Shea Jr. and uncle Tom (Marilyn) Shea.
Pat had an unwavering faith in God and a true devotion to his mother Mary. She attended St. Patrick's school and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1956. Pat and Dick were members of St Vincent DePaul church where she volunteered over the years in many capacities. In 2010 she retired from Indiana Medical Associates after 17 years as their receptionist and operator.
She loved family game nights, annual trips to warmer climates with close friends, her golf league @ Eel River, and attending all activities that her children and grandchildren participated in. Her kind, calm, and gentle spirit will be forever cherished by her loving family and friends.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 17th, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service. There will be a recitation of the rosary on Thursday February 16th at 3:30 pm. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, February 16, 2017 at D.O. McComb & Sons, Pine Valley, located at 1320 East DuPont Road.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Vincent Catholic Church at 1502 East Wallen Road, Ft. Wayne, IN 46825.
