Orvin L. Schlegel, 78, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Born in Beloit, KS, Orvin worked as a teacher for 45 years, retiring in 2004. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Schlegel of Fort Wayne; son, Keith (CoLette) Schlegel of New Haven; brother, Ronald (Enid) Schlegel of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Jeanette Ph.D. (Rev. Charles) Groth, of Lexington, KY; sister-in-law, Mary Schlegel of TX; grandchildren, Krista Baxter, Kenton Schlegel, and Kayleen Schlegel; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Emily, and William Baxter; and several nieces and nephews. Orvin was preceded in death by father, Albert P. Schlegel; mother, Luella Schlegel; and brother, Albert Schlegel, Jr. Service is 1:00 pm, Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3425 Crescent Avenue with Pastor Mark A. Neubacher officiating with calling two hours prior to the service. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
