Norman R. Schnabel, Sr., 83, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital. Born in Appleton, WI, Norman was the son of the late Leo and Edith Schnabel. He worked for Baker Manufacturing and was a Police Officer in Evansville, Wisconsin prior to working as an auditor for General Motors for 37 years, until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of Risen Savior Lutheran Church, BPO Elks, Fort Wayne Board of Realtors; and the UAW Local 2209. Norman enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, playing marbles, and cards. He loved his family and cherished all his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Schnabel of Fort Wayne; son, Norman (Wanda) Schnabel, Jr. of Sun City West, AZ; grandchildren, Ellie Day, Jodie Pearson, Katie Luckadoo, Holly Redders, Ashley Bartelt, Jennifer Komarek, Brent Schnabel, Dustin Schnabel; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; son-in-law, Henry Redders of Leo; brothers, Kenneth (Bernie) Schnabel of Oregon, WI, and Roger (Jolene) Schnabel of Evansville, WI. Norman was preceded in death by daughter, Sharon Redders. Service is 11:00 am, Friday, February 2, 2018 at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 8010 W Jefferson Blvd with calling one hour prior, Rev. Jeanie Barnes officiating. Calling at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road Thursday, February 1, 2018, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the family.
