Neil T. Henkenius, 87, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, IN, He was a U S Marine Corps Korean War veteran. Neil worked as a Truck Driver with Perfects IGA, Dana Corp and Pepsi Cola. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and American Legion Post 82. He was a chef, a cake baking master and fought with all his might to the very end. He leaves behind a large circle of friends and family. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Lois Henkenius of Fort Wayne, IN; daughters, Eva Elizabeth (Chuck) Alberini and Julie Ann (Ron) Magsamen both of Fort Wayne, IN; son, Neil A. (Nancy) Henkenius of Manchester, IA; grandchildren, Brenda (Chad) Parrish, Sarah (Matt) Erdmann, Rita (Jay) Santure, Christina and Annie Bratton and Rachael and Luke Henkenius; great-grandchildren, Rosie, Mark, Ava, Michael Libby, twins Leighla and Melody; sister, Charlene Frieburger of Fort Wayne, IN; brother in law Allen Lang of Chicago Il. Neil was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Emma Henkenius, daughter, Belinda Henkenius, son, infant Joseph, brothers, Glen and Leo Henkenius, sisters, Ruth Teagarden, Emma Jane Seelig, Mary Hessert, Rita Henkenius, Jean Crowl and Sister Carolyn Henkenius. Funeral Service is 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Mungovan & Sons Memorial Chapel , 2114 South Calhoun Street with calling one hour prior, Fr Phillip Widmann officiating. Calling will also be Monday, January 11, 2016, from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial in Catholic Cemetery , Fort Wayne, Indiana.
