Michael Benson, 59, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Rapid City, SD, Mike worked as a railroad engineer with Norfolk Southern Railroad for 25 years. He was a member of, BLE Railroad Union. Mike loved his family and grandchildren. He was fun loving and had a great sense of humor. He was a hard worker and enjoyed his job. He and his wife enjoyed going to the Hoosier Park Racing and Casino in Anderson. . Surviving are his wife of 31 and a half years, Lonna Benson of Fort Wayne; children, James (Crystal) Wolford of Ossian, IN, Jessica (Travis Butler) Benson of Fort Wayne, and Corey (Emily Haynes) Benson of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, David, Alexandrea, Lillian, Keanu, Caya, Auriella, and Riley; mother, Delores Benson of Rapid City, SD; siblings, William J. (Pamela) Benson of Fort Wayne, Mark (Lori) Benson of Fremont, IN, Shari (James) Snow of Rapid City, SD, Dawn Benson of Rapid City, SD, Gregory (Deanna) Benson of Fort Wayne, Timothy (Dionne) Benson of New Haven, and Nathan (Michelle) Benson of Fort Wayne; mother-in-law, Gloria Slatton of Fort Wayne; and many nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by father, William Benson. Service is 1:00 pm, Friday, November 3, 2017 at - D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue with Pastor Paul Schmucker officiating with an hour of calling prior to the service. Calling at - D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, Thursday, November 2, 2017, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to the family.
