Max G. Updike, 86, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Lutheran Life Villages in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born in Warren to the late Glenn H. and Isabel Nadine Updike. He worked as a teacher and administrator for Fort Wayne Community Schools until his retirement. After his retirement he volunteered as a tutor at Wolcott Mills Elementary School. He also worked for LaGrange County Parks and Recreation. He served honorably in the United States Navy on the USS Valley Forge. He enjoyed working with youth, hunting, game shooting, and the outdoors. Surviving are his children, Chris (Kelly) Updike and Amy (Mike) Dauss; grandchildren, Ryan Dauss, Matthew Dauss, Megan (Mike) Krauskopf, and Kita Updike; and one great-grandchild, Mareena Krauskopf. Max was also preceded in death by wife, Jane Updike and sister, Sue Lundquist. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 1:00 pm at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home Maplewood Park with visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to LaGrange County Parks and Recreation.
