Maurice C. "Duke" Ransbottom, 85, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Duke was the son of the late Maurice Sr. and Bertha Gross. He was a Korean War Army veteran. Duke worked with the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the VFW #857, American Legion #499, F.O. P. Wayne Lodge #14. Duke enjoyed golfing, mowing his lawn, and watching Notre Dame Football, along with I.U. Basketball. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Dorotha Ransbottom of Fort Wayne; children, Dan Ransbottom of Chicago, IL, Michael Ransbottom of Syracuse, Jodi Hogan of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ransbottom, Jennifer (Praveen) Nattam, Justin Allen, Troy (Samantha) Cox, and Alec Ransbottom; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol Duly of Fort Wayne; Edwin Gross of Voorhees, NJ, and Connie Boatright-Royster of Indianapolis. Duke was preceded in death by his step-father, John Gross, and grandson Dan Ransbottom, Jr. Service is 11:00 am, Friday, February 3, 2017 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road with calling one hour prior. Calling at the funeral home Thursday, February 2, 2017, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
