Mary W. Armstrong, 85, died Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Parkview Hospice. Born in St. Joseph, MI, she was the daughter of Arch and Anna Mae Hooker. She attended Barat College in Lake Forest, IL. In 1969 she and her husband, Paul "Curly" Armstrong purchased Curly Armstrong's Village Inn on Bluffton Road in Fort Wayne. After Curly's death in 1983, Mary continued to operate the tavern for more than 30 years. She is survived by her long-time companion, Dudley O'Carroll of Fort Wayne; her sons, Matthew (Kim) Brown of Angola, IN, Christopher Brown and David (Tina) Brown both of Fort Wayne; daughters, Ellen Brown of Boulder CO, Molly (Tom) Cooney and Amy Lambert both of Fort Wayne; 4 grandchildren; and sister, Nancy Dusing of Fort Wayne. Mary was preceded in death by her two sons, Martin Brown and Anthony Brown. Memorial Mass is 1:30 pm, Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1122 S. Calhoun with calling one hour prior. Memorial calling will also be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception or to St. Mary's Soup Kitchen.
