Mary Kay Doepker, 73, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Mary Kay was a member of the fist graduating class of Bishop Luers High School. She worked as a teacher in Fort Wayne for many years, until her retirement. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Mary Kay taught at St. Joseph Hessen Castle, St. Vincent DePaul, Bishop Dwenger High School, and Queen of Angels Catholic School. She was an avid scrap booker, loved decorating, Christmas, and wrapping presents. She enjoyed attending the grandkids sporting events and she was, all around, very artistic. Mary Kay enjoyed spending summers at Lake Wawasee and vacationing anywhere with her family. Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Steve Doepker of Fort Wayne; daughters, Charlotte Doepker of Redondo Beach, CA and Martha (Jon) Ellis of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Madison and Jack Ellis; siblings, Richard (Judy) Nill, Jr. of Fort Wayne, Nancy (Rick) Toone of Fort Wayne, Mark Nill of Syracuse, IN, Sally McKibben of Fort Wayne, and Joe (Cathy) Nill of Vernon Hills, IL; and mother, Charlotte Nill. Mary Kay was preceded in death by father, Richard Nill, Sr. Mass of Christian Burial at St Elizabeth Ann Seton, Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 11:00 am with Father James Shafer officiating with an hour of calling prior to the Mass. Calling at - D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Thursday, October 5, 2017, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
