Marlene (Gearhart) Allison, 80, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018 in Fort Wayne. Marlene was born on September 25, 1937 in Huntington, Indiana to the late George C. Gearhart and Leah (Divelbiss) Gearhart. She was a graduate of the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1958 and worked for several years at Lutheran Hospital. In 1971, she began work as a Public Health Nurse at the Allen County Board of Health where she worked until her retirement in 2002. She began her fight against breast cancer in 2000 and proved to be one tough lady. She was thankful for her care from Dr. Gize and the nurses and staff at Fort Wayne medical Oncology. Marlene was lucky to have wonderful friends that she was able to travel with and enjoy many activities. She enjoyed volunteering at Lutheran Life Villages and her church. She loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughters, Dawn Tyner, Deanna (Kevin) McDermit; granddaughters, Hayley Tyner, Chelsey Tyner, Caitlin (Kyle) Wagner, and Emily McDermit; two great grandchildren; and brother, George Duane (Carol) Gearhart. Service will be 5 pm, Friday, February 9, 2018 at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home with calling beginning at 2 pm. Following the service calling will extend until 7pm. The family would like to thank Visiting Nurse Hospice for their care this last month. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Resource Center at Lutheran Hospital or Waynedale United Methodist Church.
