MARJORIE J. MOORHEAD, (92), passed away Friday, September 1, 2017, at Heritage Park, in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Marjorie was a talented watercolor artist and an accomplished cross-stitcher, who held a special compassion for her loving dog-companion, Toby. Marjorie worked as a medical transcriptionist with Dr. Scott A. Miller, Dr. Lawrence Mueller, and Dr. Norman Kempler, and several Medical Transcription services in the Fort Wayne area. Marjorie was a member of the Saint Joseph United Methodist Church and was a dedicated Alto in their Chancel Choir, where she valued many warm church friendships. She was also a member of the Fort Wayne Artists Guild, and was Past President, Charter and Life Member of the Opticians Association of Indiana. Marjorie graduated from North Side High School in 1943; she also received an American Board of Opticianry Certification. She especially cherished many local and out-of-town special friends, and her past dog and domestic-bird companions. Marjorie is grateful to dedicated caregivers, (especially Lauraine Baxter) provided by Cindy Keller; compassionate personnel (particularly Bonnie Gerstung, Lisa Carr and Dr. David Ilo) from Heartland Hospice, as well as many caring staff members of Heritage Park. Surviving are her Nieces, Peggy Kindiger (Bryan) of ElReno, OK, Nancy Carlisle (Jim) of Lincoln, NE, Susan Wilson (Dr. Jack Allison) of Asheville, NC, and Anne Johnson, (Jim) of Fort Collins, CO, Nephews, Michael E. Moorhead (Sue) of Largo, FL, Stephen R. Moorhead (Ivy Zeller) of Montpelier, VT, and Rev. William S. Moorhead, (Wendy) of Iowa City, IA, as well as her Great Niece Julie (Scott) Massey of Fort Wayne, IN and her faithful friends, Joy & Bruce Frederick of The Villages, FL. Marjorie also leaves a number of additional great-nieces and great-nephews. Marjorie was preceded in death by her Parents, Samuel and Edna Moorhead, Brothers, Donald, Robert, and Wallace, Sister Mary Sporer, Infant Sister, Helen Moorhead, and Niece, Carol Gustin of Fort Wayne. Funeral Service is at 11 a.m., Monday, September 11, 2017 at Saint Joseph United Methodist Church, 6004 Reed Road, with calling one hour prior; Christi Murray, Pastor of Congregational Care officiating. Calling at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017. Private burial services will take place at Lindenwood Cemetery in Fort Wayne.
