Marguerite (Calkins) Horstmeyer, 93, passed away peacefully, Monday, September 18, 2017, at Kingston Residence in Fort Wayne. She was born October 1, 1923 in Woodburn, Indiana to the late John and Helen Calkins. She graduated from South Side High School. Following graduation she attended business school. She married the late Arnold H. Horstmeyer on March 8, 1947. Most of her career was spent working for James Houlihan, CPA, where she was his office manager and bookkeeper. Marguerite was the consummate volunteer, spending many hours at Parkview Hospital and the American Business Women's Association where she was a member for over 30 years. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church for over fifty years. Marguerite was an avid reader, and an excellent seamstress. She leaves behind her daughters, Lynn (Jim) Broyles of Angola, Sue McCammon of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Megan (Ryan) Jones, Nicholas (Courtney) McCammon, Ellie (Matt) Lane; great-grandchildren, Rylen, Mylee, Brenna, Bailee, and Knox. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Andrew J. Broyles, and son-in-law, David McCammon. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1 pm, Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1700 E. Pettit Avenue, with calling from 11 am until the service. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or Heartland Hospice. The family would like to thanks the staff at Kingston Residence for their loving care they gave their mother for the past years. D.O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home will be handling arrangements.
