LEO STRONCZEK, 83, passed away Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, peacefully with his family after a battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Born in Fort Wayne, Leo attended Central Catholic High School and graduated in 1952. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 43 years retiring in 1996. Leo is best known for his love of family and community. Throughout his life he was an active member of his parishes, both St. Henry and St. John the Baptist, President of the CYO, Board Member/Strategic Planner of Bishop Luers High School, Baseball Coach/President for girls and boys baseball leagues and contributor to the Postal Newspaper known as the "Bus Driver". Leo loved nothing more than spending time with his family and working in the community, seeking ways to always make things a little better. Leo married the love of his life Geraldine Graske Stronczek May 15, 1955; she survives. Also surviving are his five children Lawrence (Jan) Stronczek, Steven (Katie) Stronczek, David (Laura) Stronczek, Michael (Kathi) Stronczek and Sara (Jesse) Sampson; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grand children; four siblings Steve Stronczek, Rose Rodocker, Vic Stronczek and Fran Bowsman. Leo was preceded in death by 2 siblings Stanley Stronczek and Walter Stronczek. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30am Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4500 South Fairfield Ave., with calling one hour prior to the Mass. Father Andrew Budzinski officiating. Calling also from 4 pm to 7 pm, Monday, August 28, 2017, at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic School or Bishop Luers High School.
