Kathleen "Kate" (Palmer) Newnam, 90, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Kingston at Dupont in Fort Wayne. She was born in Fort Wayne, IN to the late George and Emma Palmer. Kathleen graduated from Central Catholic HS in 1945. During her early career she worked at Nipsco and later at St. Charles Catholic School in the religious education office from 1970-1975. Kathleen was a longtime volunteer at Parkview Hospital Randallia and St. Mary's Soup Kitchen. She was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She enjoyed playing golf, attending concerts and spending time with her family. Surviving are her son, David Newnam of Fort Wayne, IN; daughters, Carolyn Stemen of Fort Wayne, IN; Sue Ann Newnam of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Aimee (Carlie)Tuttle of Kendallville, IN; Taylor Newnam of Fort Wayne, IN; great-grandsons, Sam and Daniel Tuttle . Kathleen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Samuel H. Newnam Jr., son-in-law, Joseph Stemen, brother, James Palmer, sisters, Mary Margaret Knight, and Mildred Adams. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 am, Friday January 5, 2018 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with calling one hour prior. Calling at Thursday, January 4, 2018, from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 pm with a Rosary at 3:30pm at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue Fort Wayne, IN. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception or St. Mary's Soup Kitchen.
