Karen L (Giant) Leffers, 61, passed away Monday, August 22, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Karen graduated from Bishop Luers High School and graduated valedictorian of her class at the University of St. Francis. She was a nurse with Lutheran Hospital for 36 years. Karen was an active volunteer at St. Therese Catholic Church and Bishop Luers High School. She loved her family and cherished the time spent with them. Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Stephen Leffers of Fort Wayne; mother, Beverly Giant of Fort Wayne; children, Ryan (Jessica) Leffers, Brandon (Sarah) Leffers both of Fort Wayne, Krista (Christopher) Jones of Stroud, England, Corey (Destiny) Leffers of Fort Wayne;10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Kathy (Dale) Frieburger of Markle, Kellie (Jim) Steele, Kirk (Kris) Giant, and Kent (Wendy) Giant all of Fort Wayne. Karen was preceded in death by her father, James L. Giant. Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 am, Friday, August 26, 2016, at St. Therese Catholic Church with calling one hour prior, Fr. Lawrence Teteh officiating. Calling at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield AvenueThursday, August 25, 2016, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a rosary service at 8:30 pm.
