December 6, 1947 – October 12, 2018

Judy Edwards Conner was the mother we all wanted to be when we grow up. She was also the mother we all wish we had; I was lucky enough to have her as mine.

Mom loved many things in this life: her husband Merle ("I didn't know what love was until I met your father"), her three children, their spouses and eight grandchildren, her dear friends, any stray (human or otherwise), Winona Lake, Jesus and a good gin and tonic.

Mom taught for thirty years in the Fort Wayne Community School system. She dearly loved each child she taught. She was known for saying of kids from tough situations, "If you only knew their story...." Once you were one of Mrs. Conner's kids, you were her kid for life. She sought you out. She encouraged you on into adulthood. Countless young people went into the battleground of teaching because of my mother.

Some people use their faith as a sort of weapon; Mom used her faith as a healing balm for The Broken. Mom loved the unlovable, the addicts, those in prison, and the marginalized as much as she did cleaned-up church people.

Mom, you never thought you accomplished anything. But Andy Stanley is quoted to have said, "Your greatest contribution to the kingdom of God may not be something you do but someone you raise." You raised three children who are beginning to impart that same Faith, Hope and Love into the lives of your eight grandchildren.

We know the truth: you are one of God's trophies.

Please join us for a loving Celebration of Judy Conner's Life, 11:00 AM Saturday, October 20th, 2018 at Pine Hills Church 4704 Carroll Rd. Fort Wayne, IN 46818, with visitation two hours prior.
