“Rest In Peace Johnny ”
1 of 1 | Posted by: Rhonda Jamieson - GA

Juan "Johnny" Brown -Rodriguez, 75 went home to Jesus on Friday, July 14, 2017. He was born in San Juan Puerto Rico October 8, 1941. Juan was the only son of the late Juan and Angela Brown. As a child, he was brilliant skipping several grades at a time and learned to speak four languages along the way. He was an entrepreneur. From the beginning making money building chicken cages, repairing electronics, and creating name broaches from dry Alphabet soup noodles. While attending Santa Monica Academy Grades 1-12 Juan served as an altar boy, and considered becoming a priest (until he found out about the inability to marry). He was quite athletic playing soccer, baseball, and whooping everyone at school running. As he grew older Juan bloomed into an entertainer by playing the saxophone and singing in his own band in high school. After graduation, Juan adventured to Milwaukie School of Engineering (MSOE) where he enjoyed hanging out at the local malt shop eating pork chops and playing pinball. He earned his Bachelor's in Electrical engineering with minors in English and Psychology. After graduation, Juan worked as an electrical Engineer for the phone company in Puerto Rico, until he came back to the U.S. and became a maintenance engineer, then regional executive for a maintenance company. He went on to be an executive for the Boy Scouts of America. When he retired from the private sector he put his many skills to use, being a jack of all trades and an entrepreneur Juan opened a number of small resale stores turning trash into treasure (the original American Picker). He also was an avid landscaper and interior designer.
During his leisure time you could find this salsa dancing champion (the king of dancing) with his wife Nena in hand enjoying a shot of Bacardi at Delta House nightclub, working around the house, watching his favorite shows (Scarface, The Godfather, Cops, American Pickers, and westerns), munching on his favorite foods like mac-n-cheese, cheese cake, and tapioca pudding, holding hands with his precious granddaughter Charis, or spoiling his little dog Salsa.
Everywhere Juan went he commanded attention, his sense of humor was amazing, he made everyone smile no matter how much pain he was in and he made instant friends when he walked into the room. People loved him and he sincerely loved them back, often squishing them with a big hug. Johnny had the biggest heart; he always waited for kindness and love. His endless love, devotion, courage, and compassion will never be forgotten. Johnny, you are amazing and will be deeply missed.
Juan is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Nena Brown; children Annette, Arlene, Johnny II, Eric, Dana, and Rachel; grandchildren, Christina, Ashley, Kordel, Charis, Aiden, Donovan; great-grandchildren, Addison, Laighla, Greysen, and Aria.
