John R. "Jack" Hile, 88, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, John worked with Indiana Michigan Power for 41 years, and most recently he worked with D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home. Jack served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the Knights of Columbus Council #451, and the American Legion Post #82. Jack was an avid Notre Dame football fan. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Roemer Hile of Fort Wayne; his children, Dave (Trina) Hile, Debra (John) Didion, Julie (Kevin) Knoch, Mary (Tony) Turner all of Fort Wayne; step-son, David (Lisa) Roemer of Hoagland, IN; step-daughter, Debra (David) Stoops of Fort Wayne; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister Patricia (Ray) Didion of LaPorte,IN. John was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnn Hile; grandson, David Didion; parents, Donald and Margaret Hile; step-son, Dan Roemer; sister, Mary Fair; and brother, William Hile. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 am, Monday, October 2, 2017 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1122 S. Calhoun St. with Msgr. Robert Schulte officiating. Calling one hour prior at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. Calling also Sunday, October 1, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a Rosary service at 4:30 pm at the funeral home.
