Joan M. Venderly, 89, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017, in Fort Wayne. Born in Cloquet, MN, Joan graduated from the Lutheran School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse with Lutheran Hospital. As an active community volunteer, she dedicated much time and talent to organizations such as the Fort Wayne Youtheatre and the Girl Scouts of Northeast Indiana. Joan was also a world traveler throughout her life. With her husband Ron, she established a nursing scholarship in her name for students at the University of Saint Francis and the Ron and Joan Venderly Sports Center at Ball State University. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are her daughters, Darice (Robert) Kabisch of Huntertown, IN, Leslie Hormann, and Jeanette Venderly, both of Fort Wayne; 2 grandchildren, Stefanie (Sam) Ray and Diettrich Hormann; 1 great-grandchildren, Emma Ray; brother Philip (Dee) Krug of Denver, CO, and sister Marlis (Donald) Ortel of Indianapolis, IN. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Venderly; parents, Werner and Elfrieda (Lueck) Krug; and sister, Marjory Lembke. Service is 11:00 am, Saturday, February 11, 2017, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd with calling one hour prior. Calling also Friday, February 10, 2017, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
