Joan M. Early, 85, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017. She was born in Indianapolis, IN, on March 5, 1932. The daughter of the late Joseph and Alma Megel. Joan worked as a secretary for Eli Lilly in Indianapolis and owned her own business, Joan's Hallmark Card and Gift Center on East State Boulevard in Fort Wayne, IN, for a number of years. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing golf, poker, bridge, bingo, and going to casinos with her family. Surviving are her children; Larry (Peggy) Early, Elaine (Jon) Maraldo, Michelle (Paul) Shoaf and Mark (Jan) Early; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Early; her sister, Sister Barbara Schmidt; and brother, Herman Schmidt. Visitation will take place at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Tuesday, October 3, 2017, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Private family burial.
